The houses use a central courtyard not only as a space organizing device but also for alternative circulation routes. The courtyard accommodates a separate staircase to allow service staff, gardeners, trainers etc.as well the family to access the upper floors of the house which comprise a gym, gardens and the family areas, without traversing the more formal areas of the house.
