RMA Architects has been selected for Stage 2 of the Sydney Modern Project design competition. The project is for a $450 million expansion of the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. The other shortlisted architects are SANAA, Kengo Kuma & Associates, Kerry Hill Architects and Sean Godsell Architects. The five practices were selected from a previous shortlist of twelve who submitted designs for Stage 1 of the competition.

Based on the five final submissions from the selected firms the jury will select one practice, in April 2015, to develop a detailed design with the Gallery.
